Quilted Heart Giveaway

Hello Farmgirl Friends!! As most of you know, I love absolutely anything that is quilted… whether it is one of my quilts that I’m snuggled under, a quilt coat I’m wearing that I made from a vintage quilt, a book bag I’ve made from quilted fabric… anything quilted is my favorite!

I’ve made these sweet little hanging hearts through the years for Mother’s Day, birthdays, May Day, Valentine’s Day, or just a sweet little gift to give your favorite friend! They are such fun because you can hang them anywhere! My friend has the one I made her hanging on the knob of her vintage china cabinet! It is so sweet.

In the Apr/May 2025 issue of MaryJanesFarm, “Spring Forward” (on newsstands March 18), we led you here for a chance to win one of three of my quilted hearts. Just comment below by answering the question,  “Describe your favorite place to be when you quilt.” Then stay tuned; I’ll toss your name into a hat and draw three lucky winners on July 1. If you’re not yet a subscriber to MaryJanesFarm, visit https://shop.maryjanesfarm.org/Magazine to sign up for just $19.95/year.

There’s something I want to tell you about MaryJanesFarm magazine. If you are not a subscriber of magazines (like so many of us are not anymore) this is one magazine you must subscribe to. It is a treasure. It’s not full of advertisements, the articles are so beautifully written and it is just so inspiring. I have gotten it for myself for many years but I also subscribe to it for several of my close girlfriends as well as my mother. And they all look forward to it every other month!

This morning as I look at my tulips popping up through the icy, frozen ground I am dreaming about all things spring! I hope you are too!

Until our gravel roads cross again… So long,

Dori

  1. Mary Ahrenholtz says:

I love to quilt while sitting in my mom’s mauve velveteen lazy boy. I quilt by hand and being in her comfy chair makes me feel closer to her. She taught me to quilt many years ago. It was a bonding experience.

  2. Pam Wickman says:

It depends. My favorite place to quilt since we moved is in my Shop. Lots of windows, light, my Bose Speaker, plans, egg chair, couch…. My son bought me a chandelier for my birthday, so it is a sweet place to quilt. I am currently starting one for my great-nephew, his wife and new baby to be. Sometimes if I am doing hand type quilting, I’ll come to the house and sit on the couch and watch a show. I love those hearts, adorable!

  3. Robin in New Jersey says:

I quilt at my desk in the corner of my bedroom under the window where natural light comes in.

  4. Kimberly Schwartz says:

I don’t quilt but my favorite place to be was next to my grandma while she quilted as I got to help her cut blocks or sew few blocks together.
I would do anything to have just one more day with her.

  5. Rosy Thompson says:

I am a newbie quilter because a wonderful friend, who is a very good quilter has been encouraging me in my sewing and even bought a nice sewing machine for me. My favorite place to sew is at her home. We sew in her dining room that overlooks a creek and beaver pond.
